3D laser scanning, reality capture and scan-to-BIM

Laser scanning and photogrammetry that turn real places into measurable point clouds, digital twins and BIM models.

Why choose Mapalytics for 3d laser scanning

  • Millimetre-level as-builts

Laser scanners record millions of measured points, so drawings and models match what is actually built.

  • Ready for BIM

Registered point clouds and scan-to-BIM models that architects and engineers can design on directly.

  • Accurate volumes

Measure stockpiles, mounds and excavations reliably, on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule.

  • A permanent digital record

Preserve heritage sites and structures as digital twins before they are damaged or altered.

Mapalytics turns real buildings, sites and objects into accurate 3D data. Our 3D laser scanning and reality capture services combine terrestrial laser scanners, aerial LiDAR and photogrammetry to produce point clouds, digital twins and BIM models you can measure and design on.

Our work ranges from UNESCO World Heritage preservation to scan-to-BIM for architects, mining volumetrics and industrial as-builts.

What we capture

  • Buildings and interiors. Precise as-built point clouds and scan-to-BIM models for renovation, retrofit and facility management, like our Manama Souq digital double in Bahrain.
  • Heritage sites. Heritage faces threats from natural disasters, urbanisation and neglect. We create digital twins so it is preserved for future generations. See our work on the Makli Necropolis and Chauburji and Gandhara artefacts.
  • Industrial facilities. Accurate models of ageing plants and structures for safe inspections, clash checks and redesign.
  • Mines and stockpiles. Volumetric measurements of stockpiles, mounds and excavations, with daily, weekly or monthly scans.
  • Objects and game assets. Photorealistic, game-ready 3D assets for studios building immersive environments.

How a scanning project works

  1. Scope. We agree the area, level of detail, accuracy and deliverables.
  2. Capture. Our team scans on site with laser scanners, and from the air with drones where needed.
  3. Registration. Scans are aligned into a single, georeferenced point cloud.
  4. Modelling. We produce meshes, digital twins, BIM models or drawings from the point cloud.
  5. Delivery. You receive files for your CAD, BIM or GIS software, and can explore the model online.

FAQ

Common questions

What is 3D reality capture?

Reality capture is the process of measuring a real place or object in 3D, usually with laser scanners, LiDAR and photogrammetry, to create an accurate digital copy such as a point cloud, mesh or digital twin.

What is scan-to-BIM?

Scan-to-BIM turns 3D laser scan data of an existing building into an accurate BIM model that architects and engineers can use for renovation, facade upgrades or facility management.

Laser scanning or photogrammetry, which do I need?

Terrestrial laser scanning gives the highest accuracy for buildings and interiors. Drone photogrammetry and aerial LiDAR cover large sites quickly. Most projects combine them, and we recommend the right mix for your accuracy and budget.

Have you scanned heritage sites?

Yes. We worked with UNESCO and the Government of Sindh on the preservation of the Makli Necropolis, and created a scan-to-BIM digital double of Manama Souq in Bahrain.
