Miniature Paintings
The Lahore Museum holds one of the largest and most representative collection of miniature paintings in the Indian subcontinent. The collection was built up in the early 20th century. It includes over a thousand paintings, ranging from early 16th century to the 20th century. These include folios of Jain manuscripts and paintings from the Persian, Imperial Mughal, Provincial Mughal and Bazar Mughal atelier. This gallery also presents paintings in the miniature tradition from the Rajput and Pahari schools. Examples of Sikh portraiture and miniatures on ivory are also interesting parts of this collection.
